Our Favourite Event Trend From the Summer
The event industry is constantly innovating and we’re always keeping our eye out for the latest trends whether it be some form of new event tech, experiential activity or catering innovation.
But what we have particularly noticed from our Summer events this year is how far event planners are moving towards embedding physical and leisure activities into their events
These opportunities are no longer just a bolt on exercise offered outside of the event programme to exhausted delegates at the end of a busy day. Instead event planners are making such moments an integral part of the programme for the day.
The recent British Society of Gerontology Conference hosted at our Bay Campus was very much a case in point. Although the conference had a very important and serious academic focus, the innovative three day programme made entertainment and leisure activities a programme feature. The packed and extremely well devised conference programme had perfectly timed interactive and down time moments weaved throughout it including beach yoga, promenade strolls, choral performances and art exhibition viewings, giving delegates the opportunity to take brain breaks, recharge, digest and share their conference experiences as they went along.
Our beachfront campuses lend themselves perfectly to this kind of event programming offering all kinds of opportunities for down-time activities on the beach, in the park and across our range of on-campus facilities which include cafés, bars, gyms, outdoor spaces, a sports village and even a beach and watersports centre!
